In her

plenary, King discusses an example of a juror being dismissed from the pool due to forestressing in the word police (so PO-lice), because the prosecutor claimed that the pronunciation showed animus towards law enforcement. And this is exactly why I study prosody!

Another often overlooked but important election. Loudoun County Public Schools has been ground zero for targeting by the Trump administration over trans students, and chose to protect their students. Pro-trans candidates Chandler and Svenson are winning, and anti-trans Munoz-Melendez is losing.

I have watched as so-called "compromise" positions on transgender people's rights have failed over and over--in statehouses, the Biden White House, and in liberal rhetoric. There is no middle ground acceptable to the politicians, activists, and billionaires obsessed with trans people and our lives.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

There are no circumstances where human beings should be without food. There are no qualifications that make someone undeserving of access to food. If you are a human being, you should get food. I don’t care about ability, job status, legal status, or anything else. If people are hungry, feed them.

If you are on ICE watch in the Rogers Park vicinity please have a buddy and exercise extreme caution. ICE has assaulted verifiers today and arrested at least one of our people. If you are vulnerable to ICE in this area, I recommend staying inside if possible.

Being a mom to young children is making me rethink a lot of how we perceive mistakes and flaws in others, as a grown person responsible for the wellbeing of helpless little people, I pretty much need elected officials to be at least as competent and informed as your average house wife with a brain.

I'm so sick of discourse from supposed allies about where trans people went wrong. Where we "went wrong" is that billionaires spent unimaginably large sums to attack us repeatedly and major media outlets have spent a decade piling on.
