Giving the keynote on Defending Psychiatric Diagnoses at the Swedish Congress of Psychiatry. You know the drill by now, psychiatric diagnoses as not reflecting real people but that is alight because they are idealised and abstract models, and modelling is great in science.

What are people's views on revealing that one reviewed a paper post publication? Bad etiquette? Fine? I sometimes want to approach authors whose papers I really liked, but not sure it's the done thing.

I've read Wuthering Heights twice over the years but still don't really know whether I like it. I think fundamentally I'm a bit too prosaic and unromantic for the strong passions portrayed. And it's one of those books with a severe shortage of likeable characters. But might give it another go.

Shame is what’s known as a de-motivating emotion. Unlike anger or fear, it makes people take fewer actions when they experience it Employ it judiciously and against enemies, not friends
