Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up. I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

showing up to meetups is just like working out. it's a muscle and you have to practice. if you feel like you suck at navigating large conferences start investing in local meetups.

It's Bandcamp Friday, Which means Artists get 100% of what they earn in sales on Bandcamp. Did you know that at $0.003 per stream, purchasing one song is worth as much as 300 streams, Today is the day to support artists and musicians, Which helps us in turn. They may support us tomorrow

I spent the afternoon drafting some skill badges that look like fruit labels for my portfolio site. They aren't quite ready to go live, but I'm stoked with how they turned out. Inspired by fruit_stickers on Insta:

Accessibility isn't a checklist, it's a pursuit and an expertise. WCAG and auto-checkers are the absolute bare minimum. If you actually give a fuck about the people who have to use your shit, you’re gonna need to do more than a panicked box-ticking exercise eleven seconds before merging a PR.

USAID matters. I've often disagreed with their strategy and choices, but their work saves more lives than any philanthropy can. It's a rounding error in the federal budget, and one of the best things we do as a country. To see it destroyed overnight by one unelected man is an unmitigated horror.

We have reached new levels of madness when an unelected, non senate-confirmed private citizen is overseeing an effort to overhaul or possibly end a congresionally mandated arm of our government. This is real trouble for the separation of powers, and with it, our basic democratic institutions.
