I do wish we as an industry and probably society, would get better defined words around "AI" (stupid marketing terms). To say you've never used AI is to say you've never used a modern computer. ie. What to watch next on Netflix/BBC/YouTube etc - all AI. There's more to this, but that's it for now.

Finally gotten around to tweaking my mobile/small screen font size and line height on my blog. Slightly suspect the font is bigger because I'm just older, but previously felt really small (might take a few reloads to clear old stylesheet).

I made a big upgrade to my little `font-size-adjust` tool. You can now upload a font, configure some variable axes if needed, and it will spit out the values you'd need for `ex-height`, `cap-height` or `ch-width`.

The web is shifting from something we use to something that acts on our behalf. Agentic AI promises systems that read, decide, negotiate, and optimise for us, but when algorithms become our representative, a deeper question arises: who is it actually representing?

You know that thing when you start writing a blog post about the events you attended more as a "this was great - I should remember for the future" and then it turns into a 1,500 word full bloody review of almost all of the talks and you realise you've been writing it for 4 days now. That. 🤦

The past 48 hours have been tough. The Secretary of State for Health, Wes Streeting, has made it clear he’s going to manufacture the evidence base and move the goalposts for as long as it takes to make sure trans people don’t get the healthcare we need as long as he’s in post.

I've just spent close to 2 hours debugging why my microphone on my mac desktop wasn't working (a Yeti Blue - pre Logitech). Anxiety inducing at the level 11. It was something related to ghost logi software lurking and not releasing the USB device even though I wasn't using the logitech software.

There are a lot of things wrong with this. (Like a lot of things). But what stood out to me was "llms don't feed and validate narcissists". Like they absolutely do? These things feed you back exactly what you wanna hear. By design. Don't use ai for therapy. Full stop. Don't do it.
