Been enjoying discovering new posts via some self hosted personal project. I've been thinking A LOT about personal algorithms, and whether it's even possible for these to exist along side our existing services. Not sure I've got an answer yet. Pretty sure I'm not smart enough…!

My "links" page currently hosts 241 links with commentary and I was thinking of adding pagination. Except, the HTML for the full page is ~150K. There's only a couple of images on the page, one of which is 160K. So, even though it's long, there's no point in pagination, right?

Every time I think "Oooh, a little social network adjacent project would be neat", I instantly fall into "does it use bsky or mastodon", like back in the 2010s when we could rely on Twitter being the social sign in. On top of which, Mastodon being a very disconnected network - far from "simple"…🤔

I've said it years ago, and it still stands today: pinboard.in does my head in. I wanted it to succeed. Then it swung it's … confidence… around like it had, then, I can't say how long ago, it just left the building and the site is just hanging in there. I _really_ need to sort my own solution.

We sent out a newsletter that typically has 40% open rate and it had 3%, plus, neither Julie nor I had recieved the email (into different accounts).
