Next is Richard Rutter telling us what's new about web typography. He shows an example of how Safari has made a heading look odd by making a bold font artificially bolder. But it's happening because the bold font was defined with a normal weight. #WebDayOut

First is @bram.us talking about anchor positioning. To make a tooltip follow an info icon, we can easily chuck a lot of JavaScript at the problem to get it to follow on scroll and move the arrow to the other side. Isn't there an easier way? #SotB26

We have just turned on dark mode support on bbc.co.uk/sport! It was simple to do because teams are all using our design system colour tokens, so all we had to do was change the page theme. (But there were some changes to make it look good in a dark colour scheme.) (UK visitors only, sorry)

It’s wild to me just how much wrong information there is out there (written by humans in the later half of 2025) about using CSS to create masonry layouts. There is no property named `grid-lanes` (as in grid-lanes: repeat(4, 200px)). There is no `masonry-direction` property. Or `masonry` anything.

Today the CSS Working Group resolved to rename the property that lets you adjust the tolerance of how content lays out in CSS Grid Lanes to `flow-tolerance`! Just updated the article about it with the new name. webkit.org/blog/17660/i...
