Hahaha so interesting. It's like the web platform equivalent of when the newspaper was invented and people grumbled about people reading their newspapers on trains (like we do today with our phones).

The #CSSDay community had incredibly helpful feedback about <meta name=text-scale>. Lots of different ideas for how to stop headings from scaling at the same rate as body text. Good feedback on how the large text on mobile will be a problem for languages with very long words, like German.

I am wildly excited for what the next-gen does with #CSS

This might be my last year living in the UK. Next spring, I'm hoping to move to Japan and I plan to start looking for jobs soon. I would love to have a job that would let me continue or increase my participation in the CSSWG. If anyone knows an org in Japan that could hire me, please let me know

I'm still thinking about #CSSDay. Seeing old friends and members of the CSSWG who I don't normally get to meet in person. But more importantly, talking to all the attendees. We're so privileged to be part of a world wide community that want to make the web a better place for everyone.

At @css.cafe we have @utilitybend.com is talking about the work he and others are doing at OpenUI for dual slider controls. There are so many out there on the web.

I'm at @css.cafe and Marco Christian Krenn is talking about design systems and auto generating with code their colour system. They have a similar colour layering system to us at the BBC but I love how it's so automated.

And finally PPK invites the speakers on stage. What another fantastic conference. Every talk on point. Incredible work by the audio team, caterers, volunteers and the audience!! Wonderful. And a shout out to @londonwebstandards.org State of the Browser.

So my current theory is that from time immemorial CSS devs got used to content-based layouts such as tables, floats, and flexbox. Then grid came, and it's not based on the content of the items. That's why it's considered confusing or "I already use flexbox so I don't need grid." [1/2]

I love a good architecture talk. It's always a bit subjective and opinionated (which is exactly why I love it). There were some nice things in here that I might implement myself on a greenfield project in the future. Some really smart things 😊 Thx @matuzo.at ! #CSSday

Yay it's @matuzo.at . 6 years ago, he did the talk 'That's not how I wrote CSS 3 years ago'. Manuel realised that he's been doing certain best practices for over ten years without second guessing them. Progressive enhancement will always be true, but other problems have better solutions now.

Next we have @patrickbrosset.com talking about grid lanes, the new name for masonry layouts. He's been here since the early days of the web when we used to love animated GIFs. @cssday.nl

First for today we have @kevinpowell.co talking about how CSS is eating JavaScript! But sadly a Windows Update prompt is eating his presentation slides. @cssday.nl

Next is Jelle talking about the new Ladybird browser which is a brand new browser with a brand new browser engine. There are only three browser engines in the world right now. They are a dying breed. (I'm struggling to live post this after having just given a talk myself 😅) @cssday.nl
