i know so many people/companies in my past who haven’t believed in social and what i was doing 5 years ago that are just now starting to venture into it.

real ones know.

the one thing im amazed by are the folks that are promoting the torc community in their local meetups across the US. i've gotten so many text/dms/tags of folks doing this. truly humbled.

i live in a world of powerpoint presentations now. is there ANY tool out there to make screenshots you have all the same size for a powerpoint presentation? the @torcdotdev community gets a ton of testimonials that i like to share with internal teams but its a nightmare formatting

just got a text from a contact for a staffing agency looking for 'someone like me' for a company based in nyc. again, i think there is going to be a huge shift in the staffing industry to every company being community led over the course of the next few years.

niching down is where it’s at right now. niche job boards. niche focus on programming skillsets. niche communities.

i have my non tech friends in nashville telling me how much they love following along building the torc community. so many people have said they feel like my entire career has let to this and i absolutely agree.

staffing companies are a commodity. everyone can provide you talent. but no staffing company is investing in people as much as we are doing at @torcdotdev simple as that.

you can't build community unless you provide value. sending an email out once a month and having a discord/slack is not 'community'.

most companies have problems building community because it's hard doing the same thing, at the same time, and the same location month after month after month.

to build community you need 3 things: -shared suffering -physical location -tangible product theres a reason why lots of companies are doing physical coffee shop pop ups. bringing people together in a virtual world is a game changer.
