Going to try to get in the habit of sharing one classic photo per week. Starting off with the strangest double-header I've ever seen- Union Pacific 4-6-2 #2866 and 4-12-2 #9011 pull an 81 car freight near Archer WY on VJ day, September 2 1945.

Trainspotters in Minnesota are probably aware of the Cedar Rapids, the famous Milwaukee Road "Skytop Lounge", now owned and operated by the Friends of the 261. BUT! That's not the only one still around. Join me for a story of history and mystery, as not all are accounted for... π§΅

If we're doing World War II discourse then we should try to answer an important question- what's the third most important aircraft of the war? C-47 is obviously #1, PBY Catalina is obviously #2, what's #3?

Jim Henson would've been 89 years old today. Commemorate his life and legacy by celebrating creativity, diversity, imagination, peace, and just plain silliness. Walk with me a bit while I talk about Jim and his work--and leave your comments about what he means to you. Right this way. /1

1. 30 Years ago today, we said goodbye to one of the most iconic names ever in the history of railroading; the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway, better known simply as the "Santa Fe." On this day in 1995, the Santa Fe merged with Burlington Northern to form BNSF Railway.

Let me bring you along for today's Sunday obsession: trying to determine the original owner of this unusual house at 76th & East End in South Shore. It appears to predate its brick bungalow neighbors by about 50 years, it's substantial in size, and there's very little info about it online.

I hadn't watched a Real Engineering video in a while, has his quality gone down or have my standards gone up? How do you make a 24 minute video about the P-38 Lightning and not mention the counter-rotating engines, one of the most important features and flaws of the P-38's design?

I respect Jeffβs work but we should be careful about what we forecast & how inevitable we make it seem. We are not close to a civil war, but I worry we are perilously close to a mass casualty event because of the undisciplined nature of irregular security forces & an extremely armed civil society

The Sphere might be the worst theater in the world to watch a movie on, even before the horrific AI additions. Think about watching a movie on a classic Omnimax immersive screen, but way bigger. Plus the seats are far from the screen. And the security lines. They can't go bankrupt fast enough.
