I decided I'm going to try and make my own journal by cutting large watercolor paper and making one with coptic binding. If I can master that method, it would make my future watercolor sketchbooks infinitely less expensive, more customizable, prettier and more personal.

Anyone know where to order free whistle kits or find them in Seattle? None of the free little libraries and pantries in my neighborhood have any and I want to stock them all because my neighborhood is the most diverse in Seattle and we'll likely need them.

wow it's gotten hard to find watercolor journals! I have one in particular I wanted to use for my Japan journal, but it's either really expensive online, or shipping is really expensive. I looked at other brands in similar sizes and they are largely out of stock. tariffs I guess?

I suppose if you're a native Japanese speaker and grew up with kanji so it's familiar, you don't have to see every line to recognize characters. But for me, it is soooo hard to recognize kanji on Bluesky on my phone because it's so tiny I can't see it clearly. Being farsighted doesn't help either.

Crocus and bluebells are coming up in my yard and the camellia is producing buds, there's a fly and ants in my house and I saw bees out today. It was so warm in the sun today I couldn't wear a jacket. It's the fucking middle of January in Seattle. The entire world is horribly broken.
