Funny animal videos no longer being trustworthy just fucking sucks all around. I love the wonder of animal behavior and what it says about the experience of being alive. It's because it happened in reality that it's so fun. It's not fun if it was just made up. There's no wonder there.

my hot take is that if you are in a community devoted to ecology (such as birding), you don't demand images or descriptions of natural predation are censored, you don't whine about big mean meanie hawks eating your pwecious widdle spawwows, and you don't villainize parasitic reproductive strategies

The notorious abandoned octopus comic that named "The Emirgible". It was about an octopus that fabricates a suit out of things it finds from ship wrecks and explores dry land. I abandoned it because while I was working on it "The Aquanaut" by Dan Santat came out and I lost all momentum.
