Another thing people should really think about is how, if we don’t abolish ICE, dismantle it, fire those employed in this tax-dollar field posse, prosecute the ones committing crimes, too many of them could be with the federal government long enough to get *pensions*. On our dime.

Thousands of Finns settled in Minnesota in the late 19th and early 20th century and the region still has a significant Finnish cultural heritage. Historically, it's really not a great idea to oppose Finns on their turf in the snow and ice.

Repressive occupying forces often believe that a few acts of horrifically unjustified violence will get the public to forfeit freedom and kowtow to them, especially if the violent is well publicized. But it usually does not work that way.

I do think part of this is out of desperation. They're hemmorhaging support, and the only way they see to turn this around is another big rallying "us vs. them" fight.

While @brittanyepage.bsky.social was reporting live from the scene, ICE agents brutalized two peaceful protestors they accused of hitting their car while trying to prevent people from filming outside the Whipple Federal Building here in #Minneapolis.

When I spoke to local activists here in Minneapolis, they told me there is a palpable sense that ICE agents are out for blood, that they want a fight, and you can feel it. I finally saw that myself at the Whipple Federal Building. ICE feels emboldened by the state covering for murder. Untouchable.

I was just denied access to the ICE processing center at the Whipple Building. Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained. The public deserves to know what is taking place in ICE facilities.

Today I attempted to exercise my Congressional right to conduct oversight on the Whipple ICE detention center in Minnesota. When I told them their refusal to let me in was illegal, they said “we don’t care.” Trump’s ICE is lawless. I won’t stop pushing for answers for Minnesotans.

During my visit to the Whipple Detention Center today, armed agents confronted us, ICE sprayed peaceful protesters and press with pepper spray and I was denied my legal right to conduct official oversight. This is Donald Trump’s America. And I’m not done fighting.

I lived by this corner for over ten years. Every year there was a huge puppet parade that went down the street, the sun returning to everyone’s joy. I bought food, would catch my bus to work, and went to the doctor at this corner. This is not a war zone. It is a community being destroyed by thugs.

It’s hard to know if people outside MN understand how much of life is grinding to a halt here because of Trump’s occupation. Schools have shut down, businesses are scaling back hours or closing because their employees aren’t safe. The whole city is weighted down.

A fellow veteran I work with is native and was picked up by ICE a month or two ago. It's already happening. He got lucky and only spend a day or two before release.

America is broken. A family ordered Door Dash and ICE pursued the woman delivering the food. She ran into the house and ICE cowards hiding their faces surrounded the property. A Native American woman living in the house started broadcasting online, telling ICE to leave unless they have a warrant.
