Some good book news: Abilene ISD's book committee voted to retain The Bluest Eye, I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter, The Lovely Bones, The Poet X, Kite Runner, and 5 more challenged books, and the school board just upheld their decision. That's great news for AISD students!

Really bummed about SCOTUS not taking Little v. Llano County. But goddamn, Leila and her fellow plaintiffs have been tireless advocates for the freedom to read and for freedom of access in libraries and we cannot lose sight of how hard this battle has been. How glad I am to live in a world w/them.

These people love gendering everything and love talking about and imagining genitals. It's WEIRD.

This is NOT normal. It's weird to read a book about a unicorn sitting in paint & make it sexual. The hyper-fixation on non existent genitals & sexualizing benign stories is harmful. The book isn't sexualizing unicorns or kids, the women on the committee are. THIS IS NOT HEALTHY.
