Getting a bit sick of people on Social Media who constantly "remind" others to add Alt Text to images, but are perfectly happy to repost videos without captions/subtitles. Accessibility is vital! (But not for the deaf. They can go fuck themselves).

Racism. I grew up in Ashfield, Lee Anderson's constituency. 40 years ago everyone was racist and proud, and they don't appear to have changed. I left as soon as I reasonably could and never went back.

🎉 One million routes! The 1,000,000th route was saved on
cycle.travel
today – this lovely journey along the River Loire. Today also saw May 2026 tick over to be the busiest month on the site yet (4 days still to go!). Fittingly it was on this exact same stretch I snapped this road sign in 2019… 🚴♀️🚴🚴♂️

Oh look, two stories in a single day about people blocking emergency services with their parked cars. Always worth remembering these things for when people clutch their pearls about how bike lanes something something ambulances

But I was led to believe that drivers cared deeply about emergency vehicle access. 😮 They're always so hot on it when it comes to opposing bike lanes or pavement parking bans.

I'm ... upadting my Request Stop Map again! As I gather that more changes happened with the May 17th 2026 timetable update. e.g Valley station on the North Wales Coast Line is no longer a request (x) stop. Can anyone else chip in with any other changes? Thanks!

Say what you like about the British press, but I find it reassuring that they spend months ripping apart a Labour PM for properly declaring some glasses and football tickets, then all but ignore someone who wants to be PM when he tries to cover up a £5 million gift.

Local election results are trickling in and we're already seeing the chaotic effects of First Past the Post. In Wandsworth, the Tories are the biggest party and are one seat away from a majority on just 31% of the vote. Meanwhile, Labour got 34% of the vote - and fewer seats.

It won't come as a surprise to many, but good to see The Times pointing out that people actually like less traffic in local neighbourhoods. It concludes that no big change is ever introduced without some initial opposition - so leaders should stick to their guns!

One for Southside nerds: I've spent a pleasant couple of hours marking out the routes of Dixon's colliery waggonways. Red (starting west of Windmillcroft Quay): the waggonway on McArthur's map (1778), with my guesswork as a dashed line.
