I've said it before, but I think the current spree of memekillings is the product of an ideological transition. It's hard to parse because it's rapidly evolving. It's clearly derived from far right precursors, but it hasn't progressed to coherence yet.

A mature extremist ideology contains the following elements: In-group ("us"), out-group ("them"), a narrative description of what the out-group does to the in-group, and a narrative description of what the in-group should do to the out-group. Every element of this ideology is subject to change.

Transitional periods can be very confusing to observers. For instance, there's a very opaque period in the evolution of British-Israelism into Christian Identity that takes place between the 1920s and 1940s, during which aspects of all four elements of the ideology changed.

I think the memekillings are the product of a rapid evolutionary shift through a Harassment Architecture orientation to something semi-novel, with in-groups and out-groups in flux, while the "what the in-group should do to the out-group" is holding relatively stable (murder with meme elements).

That said, you could make a pretty solid argument that this is a movement still mainly grounded in a Harassment Architecture worldview with an injection of memetic tactics drawn from the Christchurch massacre and iterated multiple times since then.
