This fixation on "flexposts are ugly" bothers me. My problem with flexposts are 2-fold and it is that THEY ARE BAD AT THEIR JOB, and once they are inevitably destroyed, the base becomes a hazard They are bad for bikers and don't keep drivers out of bike lanes. It's not aesthetic!

this is the goal for our city, our state, and our country. That said, this should and could be much better / safer. This lane could be sidewalk level, so this person doesn't have to wait for a road or crosswalk to go to a store. Schools need a 2 block radius of bike lanes surrounding them as well.

You know - these little solar lights that I've had out for 2 years work great. They turn on with motion, or can stay on for as long as they have battery depending on how you set them...easy to install, fairly cheap...look decent would be great for places without access to power in the countryside

The latest stunt by MassDEP elsewhere in Fort Point is allowing developers to tuck required public restrooms within required cultural spaces instead of lobbies. That forces cultural space tenants to deal with restrooms, also limiting hours of access. Bad signage just wasn’t enough.

Fascinating study. Note that this is 1 in 10 adults. Factor in children and the percentage of non-driving Americans is much higher. Cities and towns need to account for their mobility needs too.

#boston does this from time to time. They'll swap the bike and sidewalk...which makes no sense. I understand that people need to cross at some point, but thats what crosswalks are for. This area in particular at forest hills you DO NOT WANT TO ENCOURAGE people crossing anywhere but the crosswalk

we could dream of a storrow drive without cars. One that makes use of the space for people, not a redundant highway. I say that as some who drives...we don't need it. we can do better.

something i've been working on is making the arboretum safe for everyone. Ideally we get rid of he car shortcut slicing through it but until then, based on measurements i've taken of the entire road structure we could put bike & sidewalks in. This is the design I have in mind for this area.
