Avid reader, movie-watcher, lover of animals. Horror, weird, science fiction, comics, lots more.
That's three Tubi original horror films I've enjoyed. Takeout, Please Don't Feed The Children and Match. Keep it up, Tubi! Keep coming back for more.

Let's not fool anybody. George R.R. Martin's "art" director just wanted that paycheck with as little work as possible.

Watching George Romero's adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Half (1993) on Blu-ray and there's Amy Madigan looking positively radiant. There's a creepy doll version of Amy in the film during a "dream" sequence, though. It's a solid horror flick. (Damn, I miss George Romero.)

Loved Guillermo del Toro's take on Frankenstein. Bernie Wrightson's influence over the design of the Creature and some of the sets was not lost on me. A beautiful film with great performances.

IT: Welcome to Derry looks fantastic in 4K and Dolby Vision. Colors were popping and nighttime scenes looked amazing. I'll reserve judgment on the plot until I see more episodes, but I enjoyed this first episode quite a bit.

Wild that we can't get the unrated cuts of some horror films in 4K because they didn't think enough to save the original camera negatives for the unrated scenes. Lost film for films shot 10-15 years ago. smh

We have a Google Nest Doorbell camera and without fail we'll get people who press the round camera lens instead of the "ringer" button that FUCKING LIGHTS UP telling you it's a DAMN BUTTON. It even rings or gongs or whatever. How much more stimulus do you need to tell you you've done it correctly?

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale was the most gruesome chapter in the saga! I don't know who's idea it was to go full-on horror movie but kudos to them! The SFX make-up of Zombie Dame Maggie Smith were spectacular. The gore FX were mind-blowing. RIP to the Crawley family. What a way to go...

Jane Goodall has died at 91. Her startling observations about chimpanzee behaviors revolutionized not only scientific understanding of the capabilities and inner lives of primates, but also long-held notions about what it means to be human.

Caught this gem on Fandango At Home (free with ads) and was thoroughly engrossed. A haunting tale that starts out as a ghost story then veers into Lovecraftian territory. The setting of the Moors had me shivering in the dark. B+

Ta-Nehasi Coates is doing a lot of things with this essay, but one of the most important is fearlessly using examples of anti-trans hate to describe Charlie Kirk's politics. The contrast between his choices and those of other writers for major legacy outlets is revealing.

The night after the murder of Melissa Hortman, the Democratic legislator in Minnesota, the Yankees were at the Red Sox and neither team requested a moment of silence. For an actual public servant. Who we choose to hold a moment of silence for and who we do not are silences that speak volumes.
