A WIP is a DIY manual - advice from punk artists - and I keep hearing how hard it is currently, and how boon it was during 2020. For some, more time, for others, opportunities, book sales, art sales. The economy, no doubt, but in 2020, people found that in themselves so that wanted to spend on art.

In newspaper days, a headline of this magnitude would have been seen by many people just walking by in the city. News right there, in big print, truth on paper; sources always checked before going to print. Much different than a blip on an iPhone, where readers try to verify themselves.

Everyone 40 and under has lived with a federal government that doesn't operate in the interest of the people. If you took a popular vote on issues like healthcare, it would come back most of the country wants it. "So why the fuck don't we have it?" is one of many questions driving people insane.

I still have the original audiobooks of the entire series, read by the author, from cassette tapes. You could hear the cigarette burning in his hand and the clink of ice in his bourbon glass as he rasped the stories out. So glad there's a remake on Audible.

Was interviewed for a podcast and did it in the car to avoid canine chaos… but halfway thru, we got hit with a noisy downpour. Gorgeous but rowdy! Not great for the sound quality but I sure enjoyed it. After, everything was foggy but bright gold.

This book gets a shout out in the story I read on tonight’s live, a reference that was noticed and appreciated by listeners who remembered the book, so let’s make it today’s cover. I LOVED this one!

The genesis for writing the novel came from two conversations. One with @pinkzombierose.bsky.social about the abandoned gas station stories book I'd tried. Another with local friend Shane who said they could see me writing a experimental novel. The two ideas merged.

I couldn’t express queerness until that word was reclaimed and almost instantly, I clicked into it, though I always knew that was the word that worked, rooted in the old meanings, strange, fringe, unwell. Stricken with a case of wyrd. Now we need to reclaim “Bohemian.”

Not to toot my own horn, but I am an inspiration for what not do if you want to be normal or practical and still make a contribution. LOL
