A year in reading, 2026! The Signature of All Things, by Elizabeth Gilbert. Alma Whittaker thirsts for knowledge. She has the money & social position to pursue it, & this desire takes her from Pennsylvania to Tahiti, then Amsterdam. An incredible book that may be my book of the year already! 💙📚

Gardening folk and cooks of bluesky - what should I do with the many small green peppers/capsicums coming out of my garden? If I leave them to grow bigger they get eaten by critters or get blossom end rot. They’re super crisp and juicy and I don’t want them to end up in the compost! 🌱🫑

40. A Month in the Country by J.L. Carr Tom Birkin has been feeling ‘around the bend’ since the war. He hopes a few weeks working on a restoration job for the church in Oxgodby might do him good. I picked this up after Samantha Harvey praised it in an interview about Orbital & I adored it.

52. James by Percival Everett The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, retold from Jim’s perspective. Revisited this as an audiobook during a week with a lot of driving. Expertly narrated by Dominic Hoffman. Still brilliant, funny, devastating.
