Missed the actual day of this anniversary but man, if you weren't there you maybe don't know what a big deal it was when this game came out. There hadn't been a new 2D Mario since Super Mario Land 2. Mario games in general were few and far between at this point! This basically revived the series.

On Thursday evening Valnet issued new contracts to writers at TheGamer instituting a minimum article viewership threshold for payment. Most writers already have pay tied to article performance, but this new system would mean that if a piece didn't get X number of clicks you wouldn't be paid for it.

I know nothing of this sequel and am excited to hear it exists. I got the first Aggelos on sale recently and had a blast with the Wonder Boy-style, 2D open world concept. It gives a decent challenge and has a bopping chiptune soundtrack. Just one of those “made for me” games you stumble across.

This lines up with a lot of my thoughts on it. I also think the speed with which Roblox developers jack concepts from each other to further optimize their games for monetization is fascinating and shouldn't be in something that gets pushed to kids. It's like the worst version of best practices.
