I co-sign most of this review. I'd add that the motorcycle is fun and exciting, although it feels underutilized. The different areas are aesthetically elite but feel like a step down in design intricacy. The best mechanics and elemental powers are remixed from Prime 1, which was recently remastered.

No idea on the dev drama for Prime 4, but this assessment is not damning. If you told me a new Metroid game was finished in 2018 and held back until 2025, I'd be just as excited to dig into it today. Plus, this is a Switch 1 game too -- it was unlikely to feel cutting-edge in 2025.

In all the Metroid Prime 4 chatter, please spare a thought for F-Zero and Star Fox fans.
