Part of being an AI user in creative works is convincing yourself that everyone ELSE uses it too, because otherwise you have to confront the reality that you're a faker and a fraud

There's nothing "radical" about AOC. She's the norm among liberals in much of the world. She's only "radical" in the sense that she's a woman who doesn't pull her punches and a politician who doesn't kow-tow to corporations. Her political stances are quite mainstream among the American citizenry.

if only Mary Shelley had warned us in 1818 about the dangers of literature instead of the reckless, hubristic pursuit of scientific and technological advancement carried out by ghoulish men with no regard for humanity—men who would desecrate the dead and kill the living to feed their power hunger.

I’m applying to a bunch of grants rn and treating it as kind of a social experiment to be upfront about the fact that I’m pregnant and the biggest reason I need funding for my writing next year is bc I’ll be learning to balance it with parenthood, on top of paid work… will report back on the results

Marjorie Taylor Green isn’t a known antisemite because she criticizes Israel, she’s a known antisemite because of all the talk about secret cabals, Jewish space lasers, Great Replacement theory, and Jews killing Jesus. Hope this helps some leftists who are mad at AOC for being right about her today

Contrary to public perception a huge % of pregnant teenagers in the 1990s were impregnated by adult men. The younger they were, the larger the average age gap between mother and father was. Fixing teen pregnancy was in part a clampdown on statutory rape. That's what conservatives want to reverse.

FYI if you use AI to write emails to authors, they'll be indistinguishable from the slop scams we're all getting on a daily basis (and just in general... if you use AI to write me an email I will treat it as I treat all AI—feel a moment of contempt and then ignore it)

Movies are political and it's good to discuss their politics, but if you view a film primarily as an ideology delivery system that is caked in stupid art and entertainment and pleasure that it uses to distract the dumb unwashed and make What It Is Really Saying palatable, you might be the problem.

I’m utterly uninterested in “debates” about whether AI can do things well. I wouldn’t care if it could. 1. It stole from me. 2. I prefer me having my job to a computer having it. 3. I don’t teach “with” Lockheed or Raytheon; why wld I teach with Anthropic or OpenAI?
