Men assume Pride & Prejudice is a Hallmark romance when the plot is driven by the Bennet sisters’ fear of starvation because they will be homeless when their father dies. It’s a book about money, about people, and those who dismiss it as saccharine fluff are cheating themselves.

According to a Flemish folktale, a man was walking his two dogs at night when all of a sudden he saw a cat. He threw a stick at the cat because he suspected the animal was a witch. Five minutes later, he found himself surrounded by hundreds of cats who threw mud at him. 🎨 Boris Groh

No wraith way, no corpse lane is ever less than ghost-crowded. Yet just as roads to market or the races are thronged on certain days, as we approach Allhallowtide they become congested by spirits. From distant villages to the boneyard gates and lychgate termini a rush of spectres walk. –

This medieval skull, safeguarded by chain mail, belonged to a warrior who lost his life in fierce Battle of Visby back in 1361 AD. After clash, remains of fallen, along with their weapons and armor, were laid to rest in a communal grave, making the site a remarkable archaeological treasure.
