Edinburgh's Old Town horizon last night. Our old city runs down a steep spine which protects the skyline from too many intrusive modern buildings. Before man arrived to colonise it the hard volcanic castle rock protected the land downstream as a 1km thick ice sheet ground slowly from west to east.

After last night's enormous sunset with this spire in the shot I thought I'd catch the Canongate Tolbooth together with the fresh crescent moon tonight. That sky is amazing swim-in-it blue. #Edinburgh
