Our judicial system seems to have the idea that car crimes aren’t real crimes, with this judge even calling someone who was willing to drive drunk and dangerously putting other at risk “ordinarily law-abiding people.” Anecdotally, that doesn’t line up with my experience at all.

I've been in Montreal for one single day and its both amazed me with its transit system and made me sad Halifax doesn't have near as functioning of one. Proper bike & bus lanes, actual acknowledgement of pedestrian safety... god I wish we had even an ounce of this type of infrastructure back home!

Halifax universities give students a heavily discounted transit pass. Works out to $23 a month (versus $90 normal price). It’s a good balance between funding transit (everyone pays) while making transit affordable (the price per student isn’t high) and easy to use (just show your card).
