I was confused about this one at first, because I would have thought a nearby car wash wouldn’t be any louder than the nearby traffic, but it seems this one is using new technology which is “dramatically louder”, and like with loud vehicles council needs to find ways to regulate ongoing noise.

I really appreciated this piece by @sammyroth.bsky.social on the disappearance of climate from the power broker discourse. It’s the kind of thoughtful, nuanced deep dive we should be seeing in journalism but is largely found in newsletters these days.

Notable: coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear all produce significant excess heat. Each of these use stored energy to boil water in order to create steam to turn a turbine. Thats heat. Hydro and wind turn turbines without steam. And solar converts sunlight directly to electricity.
