One thing I notice is sometimes people really like to argue with artists that art "isn't that deep" when someone is explaining the choices in a piece. Literally every thing that's in a piece is put there on purpose by the artist.

Sometimes we put meaning in there we don't even intend it just comes out. I feel like a lot of it is defensive. "I didn't notice so it must not be there, don't make me feel stupid, don't be pretentious" I don't like feeling stupid either but sometimes people are going to be experts at things
