PSA to business owners: Don't just pass on the tariff cost to your consumers quietly. Add a line on the bill and explicitly label it "Trump Tariff." Show people *why* it is costing more.

There are 33m companies in the USA. Only 21k employe 500 or more. And they only make up 23% of workers. Trump and Elon are ignoring the more than 32m entrepreneurs that can't afford to build a new factory or pay tariffs or absorb cancelled contracts.

I pitched my NYT editor that folks really need to understand that the deadweight loss of tariffs rises in the square of the tariff rate. Despite the wonkiness of it all, they said yes--as long as you can explain that intuitively. Lemme know how I did:

Tariffs are on/off/paused, and are targeted/universal, applied to our friends/foes/everyone, starting sooner/later. They'll be in place for the short/long run because they are a useful policy/bargaining chip, and will solve our problem with fentanyl/trade deficits/manufacturing/revenue.

Medicaid goes by many names. Will Americans realize if it gets cut?
States, which administer federal Medicaid funds, often change the name of the program to get more people to sign up. Studies find this causes confusion about who benefits from the program.
