Highland's East Sutherland and Edderton ward also up on the 25th of June. A much smaller ballot here: no Labour or Greens from the Holyrood parties, but there is an Independent. If a party wins it'll surely be Lib Dems, but never discount an Independent in the rural Highlands.

The failure to keep track of vehicle ownership makes us all less safe. Hit and run crashes are leaving people dead or seriously injured, while tracing the driver, shamefully driving off after causing horrendous harm to a fellow road user, is pretty much impossible. Government needs to grip this.

Making it safer and easier for people to travel by bike helps to address transport poverty. Cycle lanes, like this one in Glasgow, connecting communities to the city centre, reflect the everyday journeys that people make, helping them to get from home to work, school, shops and vital services.

Access to e-bikes makes traveling the longer distances in rural communities by bike accessible to more people. Its about being able to access your local shop, school or doctor - in areas where public transport is often poor Not everyone lives in London!
