Heck, I could add Diaz as a must sign atop all of the questions, and it’d still be a better article than Soto and Lindor had a “chilly” relationship that led to the Mets struggles last year. Mets struggled because starting pitching went almost 2 months unable to get beyond 4 innings.

Many people have already shared things I would have said, so I will share the random fact that he was the Mets first baseman when they debuted the short-lived “ice cream man” caps, which were white with blue bills.

Never played in the minors, and the best pure hitter to ever wear a Mets uniform. And while nobody played 1B like Keith, Olerud was probably the 2nd best glove at 1st the Mets ever had. There are players not as good as him in Cooperstown.

Maybe the best pure hitter the Mets had in the 90s. Those teams played unreal infield defense and he was a big piece of that too. Always seemed like a down to earth guy.

If you’re wondering who’s guiding our transition, it’s the best New Yorkers that money can’t buy.

It was their personal dynamic that did it. They had diametrically opposed on-air personalities. They didn't hate each but clearly didn't really like each other either and definitely did not want to be on-air partners since each felt he should have his own show. Mike and the Mad Dog were fascinating in that two people with zero objective knowledge made a whole career out of bloviating about sports. If you went to any sports bar and handing a mic to the loudest patron there you wouldn't get anything much different - yet these guys were somehow stars
