Or Schumer sees himself as some sort of final guard for democracy, championing the only "true" way forward in the wake or Tuesdays massive wins (especially with regards to Mamdani), and has amassed a small contingent of loyal senate democrats to his cause. Probably both.

I can only assume Schumer's goal, which no one wants, is to allow the GOP to sink an ACA extension vote next month so that he and other dem leadership have talking points going into midterms. It's a dangerous (and selfish) calculus that cedes any ground gained over the past month.

I'm not familiar with Evan Cagle but I'm extremely tempted to read this book based on this page alone.
