I haven't looked at many of the think pieces about CK -- I live in Arizona, I've known about the guy & his "legacy" for years -- but I'll read literally anything by Coates. You should too.

It's so hard not to be glued to the news because I do wanna stay abreast of everything terrible, especially when all the worst things are apparently real, which just confirms my bad habits. SO my strategy now is to remember that my capacity to say "I told you so" won't keep me safe or sane.

Really interesting thread, especially for those of us who were high school teens when this stuff was coming out. I certainly didn't understand why Marvel was publishing boobs & violence, I probably figured it was because the 2000s offered some kind of fresh start (& there likely was some of that).

People are really struggling right now. Instead of using AI to make images, a couple hundred dollars to a working artist would help them out.

Very excited for this. I've been thinking about Morrison's run a lot recently, in the context of writers/artists who defined the X-Men when I was a regular reader (roughly late '90s thru the end of the '00s). Morrison might just be #1.

I find activism always works best when playing dumb and kind. When I speak at city council meetings about banned books, I pretend to assume everyone is on my side, even if I've done enough research to write a book, and act the part.
