At our 4th annual orientation, one of the Black male teachers honored teared up & said he'd never been recognized for anything positive in his entire life. The way the entire room teared up & clapped even louder...this is why I do this work.

I love how kids can have the longest conversations about random things they're interested in. They can talk for hours about things like rocks & sloths without prompting. I wish schools were designed to cultivate kids' natural curiosity.
