Trump struck a deal to withdraw troops from Afghanistan by May, 2021, drawing down from 13,000 to 2500 troops during his term, also agreeing to the release of 5000 Taliban prisoners. Biden completed the withdrawal in 2021. Now Trump wants to go back in and retake the Bagram air base.
