I understand folks are scared but I want you to think about the mechanics of this. There are more polling places (>100k) than ICE and CBP agents combined, so they can only pick a few districts to try to intimidate. Now what happens when cell phone footage of that goes online in the early morning?

The best thing I learned from Macaulay Culkin at last night’s Home Alone screening is that his 4yo son loves the movie, thinks of himself as Kevin, and has no idea that that’s his dad. Culkin is attempting to hide that fact for as long as possible

folks can complain about the effectiveness of scheduled orderly mass protest but to think about it another way its the closest thing we have to the opening scene of A Muppet Christmas Carol where all the muppets sing "there goes Mr. Dipshit, there goes Mr. Ass" to Scrooge and it clearly bothered him

An antidote to despair and cynicism -- academics studying countries facing autocratic takeovers document that more than half of these episodes lead to "U-turns" and more than 90% result in strengthened democracies. Up to us to make it so!

When autocratization is reversed: episodes of U-Turns since 1900
The world is in a “wave of autocratization.” Yet, recent events in Brazil, the Maldives, and Zambia demonstrate that autocratization can be halted and reversed. This article introduces “U-Turn” as ...

(Thread) In an alternate universe I and my lovely partner Tony write rom coms under the name Evie Snow. For a decade now, we've received regular emails from an elderly church lady in the Midwest US who writes gratuitously steamy emails to us, always about Tony, always about him being a centaur. (1)
