It was a great thing to be able to host this conversation. ‘Plans don’t change things, people do’, ‘get the basics right’, ‘get local’ and ‘intentionally hear all voices’ and ‘you can’t deal with the NHS in a vacuum from social care’ - wise words from all the panelists!!

Yesterday the UK Supreme Court made a big judgement about the definition of sex under the Equalities Act. Think of how powerful it could be if integrated with social care, and worth reflecting why the idea started with council funding which the NHS then picked up. Big clue on how prevention needs to work!

Here @jacoblant.bsky.social highlights a paradox of the left shift to prevention. Before getting to the sunny uplands of genuinely better & cheaper health, you have to make your way across the rocky terrain of uncovered unmet need. Doesn't make it the wrong thing to do, but savings aren't a given.

I’m a nerd, so I’m going to look forward to reading through the new contract in detail when I get a moment. What I do know on continuity is that practices will be expected to risk stratify their lists but will have local flexibility to decided where they focus their continuity efforts.
