Incredibly irresponsible hed: "COVID Vaccine Linked to New Side Effect, Especially in Older Adults." News is actually abt *benefit*: significant reduction in heart problems. How many ppl see only headline & infer endorsement of propaganda misconceptions?

Future dystopian sci-fi has imagined things like nuclear wastelands, sure. Totalitarian oppression, climate catastrophe, sure. But rarely has it imagined today's real horror of AI making stupid and annoying people 100x worse.

Air conditioning is unapologetically a good thing because it helps people not die. And one good thing about air conditioning is that it largely needs to run during the day when solar power is at its maximum: it can and should align with clean energy goals.

Dammit, another thought: once you absorb the importance of the dominance axis on social media, you really do see it everywhere. A story titled “Top 5 Ways to Prevent Dementia” gets read and shared. “Dementia Is Mostly Genetics” is ignored. It explains why conspiracy theories outperform facts.

it's related to the fact that a lot of ppl have convinced themselves that the only reason companies sell fossil fuels is bc they're evil, when in actuality it's bc ppl love buying them bc they're a really efficient and convenient way to generate energy w/the only downside being the end of the world
