Phil Hartman as the Grinch, from a 1994 Behind the Scenes special on TNT. Not directly related to The Simpsons, but this clip was too good to not share, since Phil was a regular Simpsons guest star during this time.

Woman comes to US at age 6. Graduates nursing school. Work permit. No criminal record. Snatched and imprisoned by ICE for 6 months now. About to be forced back to Honduras. A life destroyed and one less nurse. Merry Christmas.

Been meaning to post that Bill Watterson and Gary Larson are kind of unique figures in that the grind of having to come up with a new idea to share publicly every day in the ‘90s seems to have inoculated them against ever being tempted to establish a social media presence

At SNL I worked with artists who made the funniest, stupidest graphics in no time flat. Some of my biggest jokes would have been impossible without these geniuses building an insane image or finding the perfect real-life photo of a politician. Sucks that their work is being pushed aside for slop.

It's truly insane when google's AI says "there's no information about your search term but you may have meant something completely different," then you scroll down and the actual search results are full of exactly what you were looking for

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque: "This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Every single congressional Democrat needs to be out there, right now, insisting that Pete Hegseth resign right now and announcing that he will be held accountable for committing war crimes. If you do not demand accountability here and now, they will only become more emboldened.

Also seems like a big problem for me and my fellow Jews if any criticism of Israel, no matter how legitimate, is equated with antisemitism! A lot of people might see what Israel has been doing in Gaza and think, “If being against this means I’m antisemitic, well I guess I am.”
