I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

Holy shit, yes. The delusion of thinking they can create something of value without working hard at it. And -- to repeat myself -- they're cheating themselves of the joy of finally breaking through the despair and self-doubt to create a story that works. Nothing more glorious!

Cons are amazing! You get to hang out with old writer friends and meet other like-minded ppl (and give hugs!!) But cons aren't necessary for your career, just your finished words are. So if you can't go for whatever reasons, no worries, for you always have your next story!
