The Egyptians are celebrating! Reminder: expect delays if you're traveling near Seattle Stadium before, during, and after the FIFA World Cup match this evening. Streets in Pioneer Square are open for celebration and closed for vehicles until about 2 hours after the end of the match.

In the Ephemeral City, very few things last forever. Sad to see Queer/Bar close down. It was a space that made room for drag, and served as a haven for many in the non-binary, bi, & trans communities within Seattle’s Queer scene. Curious to see what comes next for the space.

We ran into a family with a little boy the same age as ours playing at Genesee Playground. They had their bikes and had come all the way from Issaquah to check out Bicycle Weekend. They left to get food in Columbia City afterwards. Bicycle Weekends is a regional draw. Huge win for the neighborhood.

Today was a great day to ride Seattle’s waterfront—whether on your own bike or a borrowed Lime. 🚲🌊 We built this infrastructure to move people, connect destinations, and make post-game crowds a little more manageable. Dare I say it: getting around the city was actually part of the fun. ⚽️✨

The Waterfront was absolutely packed after the Belgium vs. Egypt match. ⚽️ A decade ago, this scene wouldn’t have been possible. The rebuilt waterfront has transformed the walk between the stadiums and Pike Place into one of Seattle’s great public spaces.

At the Seattle Design Commission this afternoon, we're getting the first look that I've seen at the Alaska Junction light rail station, slimmed down without tail tracks and with just one headhouse to reduce costs.

Seattle's light rail & streetcar lines carried 4.8 million riders in April—a 44% increase above March, after Link Line 2 was extended to connect Seattle & Bellevue across Lake Washington. Seattle's light rail & streetcar lines are now the most-ridden in the nation, above LA, Boston, or San Diego.
