I wrote to my REP @repdean.bsky.social who I see often about what happened to Marcellus Williams and about passing a Marcellus Williams act. I would say the response from her was mediocre at best. she did not even say his name. And non of the bills she talked about would of saved his life

while we breath a sigh of relief today. it is very scary how close Sonny was to getting the death penalty. also we should not forget what the government (counting Scotus) did to Marcellus Williams. when democrats take control of the house the need to pass the Marcellus Williams Act.

It is interesting that conservative Dem Shelly Willingham(who just lost the primary) actually underperformed the democratic bassline in the general elections in 2020 and 2022. so not just did he NOT mange to get crossover support. he also did not get the votes of a lot of people in the middle.

I think the fake progressive republican Kate Barr did quite well in the primary. it is amazing to think about that the dem primary plus Barr's votes are 5,679 more votes than Tim Moore got. so in other words the progressives got MORE VOTES than the conservatives!

NC state house and senate are chambers were every seat matters. Because only 60% that are present are needed to override Stein Vetoes. Assuming Carla loses the primary but the other two moderate/conservative Dems win. (And assuming Michael Wray loses a comeback bid.)

it seems like it will be very hard to get the 60 votes needed to fund ICE. the republican Budget managed to get exactly 60 votes. and Masto was one of them. the republicans already managed to get Paul(that they did not get last time)

I think Don Davis is way overrated for the district. the because only reason he overperformed the Dem baseline is because he overperformed by so much in his home base of Greene county that is not in the new district. IMO Davis is going too preform very similar to Cooper in the district in 2026

It is very fascinating that in a 1983 redistricting SCOTUS case, the conservative justices(besides O Connor) sided with the NJ DEM legislator and the liberals ruled against the Dem LEG. I guess it showed that the justices were not that partisan back then.

@djsoke.bsky.social I am interested in the NC state house primaries to see how many conservative democrats will be defeated in the primaries. Those primaries are as important as general elections. The primaries could determine if there will be enough votes to upheld Stein's vetos in the future

a somewhat random time to say this. but i don't think the 2017 elections produced a blue wave at all. Dems like a PA supreme court race that year by >4%. and the best news the got were the gains they made in the Virginia house of delegates and they still won less districts than Clinton did in 2016.

I think it is partly because of Pop 50 that made his district way bluer. I will not be surprised if he continues to take votes like this. Because they will be more in line with the new district”s views.

even though this is no were near what the final margin will be. I think almost everyone agrees that the democrats have a better chance at winning this race than they do at holding the MI Senate race. in 2024 democrats did better in NC than MI overall.

the Virginia US senate delegation is very interesting. Mark Warner voted for the Laken Riley Act and Kaine voted against it. But Warner voted against confirming Noem and Kaine voted to confirm Noem. I think the liberal resistance will probably choose Warner. because of this.
