There are currently 184 lawyers in Congress. There are only 9 engineers. I was a combat engineer in the Army. Engineers make great lawmakers because we use data, facts, and logical problem-solving to tackle complex issues. We focus on practical results. Lawyers, well, they have better suits.

We had a super great time at the Aspen 4th of July parade! We had some incredible supporters turn out and the Scout was a hit! Next week we’re going to be back on the road and heading down to Pueblo for a fundraiser for the Aspen Acre fire victims.

Celebrating the 4th of July today, I’m remembering that the true spirit of the United States lies in communities like Ouray, Pueblo, and others across our district. Places where neighbors look out for and help one another. This is the America I fought for. This is the Colorado I continue to serve.

Good to spend last Saturday in Pueblo at the 48th annual community day of cultural pride and unity. To see the community come out and support one another — with cool old cars to boot — was pretty awesome and I was honored to attend!

While Trump is building a ballroom and unveiling golden statues, families are struggling to keep up with rising costs on everything from gas to food to health care. Americans deserve a leader who is actually focused on lowering costs.
