RESULT: Mark Hill won the race for mayor of Frisco. He beat a candidate, Vilhauer, who ran an extraordinarily xenophobic and racist campaign that his supporters said was crucial for the “soul” of the city. The margin was 58/42.

The thing about this is that the team was due and the run to the title was insane and the city was united and it remains the best goddamn city in the world.

It looks like Florida Democrats may have just flipped a seat in the state House ... that isn't up until November. Apparently, the GOP incumbent was disqualified, and there are no other Republican candidates. It also appears that a write-in is no longer possible.

Former national security official Cait Conley, seeking the Dem nod in #NY17, blames both "a MAGA Dark-Money Super PAC" and her top rival, Rockland County Legislator Beth Davidson, for a new barrage of ads attacking her.

Two House seats have been vacant since April, #TX23 & #FL20, but Govs. Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis have not called special elections—and no one appears to have filed any lawsuits demanding they do so. And the first screwworm cases in the US were reported in #TX23, per the @texastribune.org.

Retiring GOP Rep. Mark Amodei seems to agree with our analysis that #NV02 isn't safe for Republicans! And at no point in this or the ensuing two paragraphs does he even mention David Flippo, who just beat out Amodei's endorsed candidate.

Valadao is now at 41% in the top-two primary results, which is an extremely bad sign for the GOP in this seat. If Valadao won after this, it would be the lowest % for a winning incumbent party in a top-two congressional primary in CA (since 2012) or WA (since 2008).

The world has changed so much since 2014, but Graham still won his primary with mid-50s support and Nancy Mace still got fifth in a statewide primary.

Lindsey Graham took only 57% of the vote after he and his allies spent $15 million on ads in the primary. Republicans saying he was always safe and the talk about him having trouble with the base was just on social media should ask why that $15 million didn't go to a general election somewhere.

While we've been watching results funnel in from SC & ME, the AP just called another major race in #CA22, projecting that Democrat Randy Villegas will advance to face GOP Rep. David Valadao in the fall. Villegas beat the DCCC's preferred candidate, Jasmeet Bains.

The AP just called a runoff in #SCGov for Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette (Trump's choice) and Attorney General Alan Wilson (son of Rep. Joe "You Lie" Wilson). Also spells the end of the House careers of Nancy Mace and Ralph Norman.

Also worth pointing out that Graham's allies spent a fortune—more than $11 million—to protect him from a primary opponent who advocated for "medical cocaine."

The AP just called #SCSen for Lindsey Graham, who avoids a runoff against wealthy bizman Mark Lynch. His 58% is unimpressive for a primary, though. (Think about it this way: Pols typically earn 90% approval ratings from their own party in polls.) He'll face Dem physician Annie Andrews in Nov.

AP calls a runoff in the Dem primary for Mace's seat, #SC01, between retired Vice Adm. Nancy Lacore and attorney Mac DeFord. GOP side still up in the air but also destined for a runoff, which would be just two weeks away. A reach seat for Dems, but they won the prior version in 2018.

Nancy Mace is in a distant 5th in the #SCGov GOP primary, even though a large chunk of her House district has now reported. Not looking great for fellow Rep. Ralph Norman, either. Last week, two GOP reps crashed and burned in gov primaries as well (Randy Feenstra & Dusty Johnson).

A few more calls from the AP: #CAGov: The second slot goes to Trump-backed Steve Hilton, ending Dem hopes of a GOP lockout (he'll face Xavier Becerra in November) #CA06: The general election will feature Kevin Kiley (GOP-caucusing indie) vs. Dem Richard Pan

Polls are now closed in Maine, where #MEGov (for both parties) and #ME02 (for Dems) are the main attractions. However, it may be a week or more before we know the results of ranked-choice tabulations, which will likely be needed.

While we wait on SC, Sacramento just dropped a large batch of votes, pushing Dem Richard Pan to just 321 votes behind GOP* Rep. Kevin Kiley. It looks like the third-place Republican, Michael Stansfield, won't displace either of them. *Kiley is running as an independent but still caucuses w/the GOP.
