Washington, D.C., has a population roughly equivalent to Alaska's. And it has zero senators. If D.C. had senators, the GOP megablil bill would have failed today. Instead, Murkowski got carve-outs and money for Alaska, and then voted to subject DC to the bill

Missed this last week: new research shows that sicker, older people were hardest hit by SNAP paperwork requirements in CT. But people who had incomes (so were obviously working!) lost SNAP too.

In the budget reconciliation bill, House Republicans are trying to cut SNAP by $295 billion. This would cut it in third in what would be by far the largest SNAP cut in history. This would rip food assistance away from millions of people, including households with children as young as 7 years old.

Groceries cost a ton in AK. Grocery stores are at risk of closing if Alaskans lose SNAP, which means that everyone will have to travel farther. Can’t say more strongly: they are claiming the power to disappear people with no recourse, to entirely remove anyone they want to, forever, with no ability to stop them. “Unamerican” doesn’t do it justice. Diametrically opposed to anything even remotely resembling a society we should support.

This is not legal. The IRS is not allowed to share taxpayer information (without the taxpayers permission) w/other parties except in a set of limited instances. They'd need a court order to do this.
