Since this information has been hard to find, let me put it here so the internet will remember. The first Waffle House in Athens, GA was #33 on West Broad. It opened February 16, 1968 and closed April 16, 2000. Thanks to Caroline at Waffle House corporate for this valuable information.

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste

I know this is just how academia works, but itâs truly baffling that I started the initial version of this D.H. Lawrence paper for a seminar class in November 2023 and here I am, two conference versions of it later, still tweaking (2 years later!) it in the hopes of publication.
