Shoutout to Dishonored 2, which bars your progress with an actually difficult logic puzzle and, if you can work it out, you can skip the entire level. (It's also randomised so you can't just google the answer or write it down during an earlier play through where you learned the answer in-game)

My genuine opinion of Savage Dragon is that while it has not ever really been that good, it is probably one of the most honest works of storytelling out there. Larson just telling the story he wants to tell, unburdened by publisher pressure or popular consensus.
