It's wild how real the fear feels. I’ve met Americans who actively avoid certain airports when flying back to the US. Just last week, I watched a US citizen frantically delete anti-Trump messages from their phone before boarding their flight home.

This was really interesting. In the study, all 13 cases with ALS ate a particular species of wild mushroom (false morels), while none of the 48 matched controls in the hamlet did. Otherwise they had a range of different occupations, habits, health risks, etc. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34216974/

I received a heartbreaking email today: A paper in a special issue I’m editing is being retracted because one of its authors is afraid of losing their job and their legal status in the U.S. if they publish a scientific study on evolution. Yes, on evolution, nature's engine of diversity.
