In Super Mario 64, if a shell-less Koopa bumps into Mario while he is asleep, he will enter a "sleepwalking" state, where all of his voice sounds are replaced by snoring. He will continue snoring even when being shot out of a cannon; the only way to wake him up is to harm him.

Here is a four page magazine ad for Dragon Slayer, one of Nihon Falcom's earliest RPGs that later spawned a whole family of loosely connected franchises. I really enjoy how the protagonist is portrayed as a weird little gremlin in these ads, compared to the macho man featured on the box art.

HoMM III is a nearly perfect game. Art style is timeless, great soundtrack, endless replayability, runs on a toaster, and a bunch of people mainly from Eastern Europe but also from China have kept the game alive through new maps, mods, etc.

This bit in the From Russia With Love game made me laugh out loud. You've got a fairly grounded, low key fight based on the one in the movie, then the most video game looking fucker of all time slides into frame.

One of the wilder discoveries I made through last night/today's Show & Tell thread was The Untitled Tower. A scrappy, rough-feeling work of true obsession. The dev says 9 years of solo work, resulting in a 40-80 hour long(!?) platformer. You might need to do this to install it in english though.

Gonna call it now: The new Dragon Slayer game will be Falcom's interpretation of a Soulslike. Kondo even mentioned in a 2021 interview that staff were disappointed that they hadn't created something like Dark Souls, despite having a long history of making challenging RPGs in the past.
