Plaintiffs' argument that Title IX protects professors & coaches at educational institutions agst sex discrimination was one made by women's rights advocates in 1970s women's rights litigation by the Women's Law Fund--the subject of my new book project. Statute says "no person," not student.

Just saw the cert grant in Crowther on Title IX employee private right-of-action. I thought it was settled law that employees can sue. Is this a genuinely unsettled area nationally or would a decision to deny the cause of action be a rollback of civil rights protections?

This is devastating though not surprising. I'm deep into my summer reading on PFAS and this move is deeply disturbing after I've learned all about the unconscionable ways in which government and industry have harmed human and environmental health from these chemicals. 😭

This is awful. Jesus. These funds have saved people from getting evicted, fired, and losing custody of their kids. (Also, just to be clear, it doesn’t criminalize the funds’ existence, but it makes them subject to federal insurance regulations, which will effectively kill many of them.)

I am really proud of the work that @rebouche.bsky.social @greerdonley.bsky.social and I did to conceive of and advocate for shield laws. They've made a huge and tangible difference for people in this country. But now we can add another thing to be proud of -- they piss off Sam Alito. Poor Sam.

Parenting changes you, and for me, it's unlocked an overwhelming, almost crippling sense of empathy for all other parents who I know care as much for their baby as I care for mine, and who would be as devastated if something happened to their baby as I would if something happened to mine.

Voting rights are going downhill in this country. On the other hand, my (academic) summer reading book stack is now complete. On the other other hand, these titles probably won't make me optimistic about everything else either! 😅 Next challenge: Read but also make time to write this summer...

Anyway, get to ground. It's always my *advice* [when I offer any]. Get hyper local. Find your people and fight where you are. This is where you can make the most impact and a real difference. Do this as much as you can, take care of yourself, and take care of your people.
