European defense manufacturer Helsing presented the CA-1 Europa, a UCAV reportedly capable of performing a range of missions, including deep precision strike. First test flight expected in 2027.

I joined Helsing for this mission - using AI to protect democracies by boosting our defence capabilities & seizing tech leadership for free societies in a hostile & competitive world. There’s been huge interest in our work at DSEI - but our govts have to act fast & at scale, we’ve no time to lose.

European NATO states must produce a strong response or invite coercion. That response must be credible. Russia’s latest escalation shows why we need to build our military capabilities much faster - getting tanks or jets in 10 years won’t deter Russia now, when we need to.

I express my deep concern about the disturbing escalation in Russia's behaviour. With regret and dismay, I call on Moscow to consider its recent deeds in the context of international law. If this misbehavior continues, I am not excluding the initiation of an immediate discussion of Russia's actions.

No doubt about where I am for work this week! But there’s no time for sightseeing in London as I’m with the Helsing team at DSEI so, instead - Come and see us and see the tech that Europe needs to strengthen its defence now - And get a glimpse of how we can master the future battlefield

Europe’s defence is at a critical juncture - one which will determine whether it’s dawn or dusk for our democracies. I’m on the road early, heading for London & DSEI to show more key players the capabilities that we provide to bolster our sovereign defence & give Europe its spine back.

My key takeaway Europe needs affordable, attritable & AI-enabled mass defence capabilities to give us the edge against authoritarians. That means getting new tech out of the innovation corner & into our militaries at scale so they can work out how best to use it.

Europe has a mountain to climb on defence - but with militaries, companies, banks & governments acting in partnership & showing our societies why we have to do this, we can do it. And we’ll have to, fast, to protest our democracies. Intense discussions at Forum Alpbach
