Sicherheitspolitische Debatten im deutschsprachigen Europa leiden unter einem fundamentalen Wahrnehmungsdefizit: Militärische Bedrohungsszenarien bleiben abstrakte Gedankenspiele, nicht existenzielle Fragen von Leib, Leben und Wohlstand.

Ohne Verlängerung des Wehrdienstes wären wir in den nächsten 10 Jahren in keinem militärischen Anlassfall verteidigungsfähig. Ein reines Berufsheer reicht in diesen Szenarien nicht aus – und würde im Ernstfall mehr Zerstörung und Verluste in Österreich bedeuten.
