Indie games can be forgiven for a lot of cut corners, missing content, bugs, intentionally low-fidelity content, etc... But not ethical issues like AI. Even if you get the budget and add bespoke assets later, a lot of folks will simply never give it a second look.

As people are rightly pointing out: you can also just DIY voices by just voicing everything yourself, asking friends, finding up & coming voice actors who are willing to volunteer for a voice credit. Or you can do simlish, Banjo Kazooie jabber, or whatever the heck you call what Undertale does!

I'm so sick of seeing AI disclaimers like this. The solution to not having the budget for voice acting isn't to use AI, it's to not have voice acting at all! Games don't need VO to be good! By jamming in slopvoices, you're not making your game better, you're making it worse and reprehensible!
