Hong Kong fire and Grenfell are just alike. Fire spreading through unsafe building materials installed due to penny-pinching, killing dozens. One difference: before the HK fire is even out three executives at contractors have been arrested, eight years after Grenfell no-one has been arrested.

After a bird flu outbreak tore through Midwestern barns, killing millions of chickens and spiking egg prices, the federal government didn’t investigate if the virus was airborne. So ProPublica did. Absolutely terrifying reporting from

Kind of wild that while food assistance was withheld from millions of families, one Trump-supporting billionaire (Ellison) saw his net worth grow more this year than the entire SNAP budget. And the YTD gains of the other four richest men would’ve fully covered salaries for all 2M federal employees.

China has a huge LBGTQ population (obviously) and acceptance among the population (especially youth) has grown significantly over the past three decades since decriminalization, yet the government still drags its feet over legal recognition and protection. Hopefully that changes in the future.

The left has to continually brand Democratic leadership as “collaborators” who are more than happy to align with Trump against the working class. There is no room for a party of the status quo in opposition. The message, which liberals increasingly agree with, has to be that leadership must change.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it. Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
