The Supreme Court clearly believes that lower courts will act to block the birthright citizenship EO through other means (including class actions) in the next 30 days, and therefore feels like it's okay partially staying these injunctions. But man, they are playing with fire.

Cannot express enough how much what happened at that meeting three weeks ago has changed things on the ground. Courthouse arrests started within days, then check-in arrests. Worksite raids, once rare, began happening daily. Detention has skyrocketed over capacity. People are going missing.

One thing the anti-immigrants can never take away is that being an immigrant is fucking awesome. Being a part of multiple cultures, in all their complexities, is fun! We have to keep celebrating where we’re from, and focus on where we’re going. This is why this work matters so much to me.
